Margaret (Campbell) Ellsworth

September 23, 1931 — July 28, 2018

Mt. Prospect, formerly of Arlington Heights

Margaret Ellsworth, nee Campbell, 86, of Mt. Prospect, former longtime resident of Arlington Heights, passed away July 28, 2018.  Beloved wife of Gerald; loving mother of William (Debra), Thomas (Nancy Swan), Daniel (Margaret), Michael (Nathalie), Robert and Peggy (Stacy Paller); cherished grandmother of Bill (Lauren), Brian (Ashley), Kevin, Bridget, Gerald and Margo; dearest great grandmother of Connor, Will, Brandon, Poppy, Liam and Finn; devoted sister of Nancy (Ed) Ryan and the late Betty (the late Jack) Goldberg and Patricia Kujawa; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Marge was quite a social butterfly and enjoyed meeting new friends. She loved her home filled with activity and always had room for strays - dogs and teenagers. Marge was very open and welcoming, she especially loved to feed any and all guests. She enjoyed time spent in the kitchen, she was a good cook and was an especially good baker, with world famous brownies.  Marge was always active and participated in golf and bowling leagues into her 70's. She loved to swim and socialize at the pool. She enjoyed traveling, the condo in Sarasota, Florida being her favorite destination. For 37 years she looked forward to reconnecting with her week 17 & 18 timeshare family where she could recite each person's life story in detail, year after year. Marge enjoyed her weekly visits to Arlington Park to bet on the grey horse or lay down a $1 Trifecta Wheel. She also enjoyed the occasional gambling excursion and loved to play the slots in Vegas or local casinos and could not pass up a Wheel of Fortune slot machine. Marge had an amazing memory and took great delight in the recollection and retelling of the details of one story after another. As the mother of six children and the manager of her household she was determined to repair anything on her own, from a running toilet to painting and wallpapering. With a big family, she became a master at diagnosing illnesses and mending an assortment of injuries. As much as she would get her hands dirty and tackle the tough jobs, she was always polished and impeccably dressed for all occasions. She had an amazing sense of humor and the ability to sum up a person or situation in the most concise, accurate, and honest way; maybe too honest, but almost always memorable.  Marge was a strong, funny, caring woman who was passionate about her family and deeply loved by all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed and never forgotten.
