Guadalupe Falcon Obituary

Guadalupe Falcon, 84, of Chicago, passed away April 19, 2020.  Beloved husband of Minerva, nee Barrera; loving mother of Ana (Mario) Chirinos, Fernando Falcon, Noemi (Manny) Solis, Alfredo “Freddy” Falcon and Cynthia “Cindy” (Mark) Trudell; cherished grandfather of Fernando Falcon, Jr., Orlando Falcon, Manny Jr. (Ruben) Solis, Alexis Enriquez and Abriel Solis; dearest brother of Cruzita (the late Alfredo) Cortez, Lorenzo Falcon, Connie (the late Siggi) Schweitzer,  Carlos (Margarita) Falcon, David (Enedina) Falcon, Hector (Olga) Falcon and the late Cresencia (the late Ricardo) Alvarado, Evangelina Falcon and Luis (Flora)Falcon; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Guadalupe proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam War Era before attending the Art Institute of Chicago where he earned his Bachelor of Art degree.  With fortitude and determination, he worked hard to put himself through school by working as a barber and a taxi driver.  Once he graduated, he became an art teacher for Chicago Public Schools and taught at many CPS schools throughout his career.  After retirement, he began teaching art at several of the Chicago Park District locations.  Lupe was well-known throughout his and the surrounding neighborhoods and it seemed as if everybody knew him.  His large and bright personality easily attracted attention from others, which he relished.  True to his character, Lupe took great delight being in the limelight and was always the life of the party.  He also absolutely loved dancing and singing karaoke and frequently could be heard whistling a tune. Lupe was an extremely talented artist and his many sketchbooks could be found anywhere about his home.  He was passionate about his family and extremely protective of his daughters.  Lupe’s light will be deeply missed by his family and many friends and acquaintances, but he has left an indelible mark on those whose lives he impacted, and he will certainly never be forgotten.

A graveside service will be held privately at Acacia Park Cemetery.  A memorial celebration of Guadalupe’s life will be arranged when it is safe to gather post-pandemic.
