George A. Lekas, 86, lifelong resident of Chicago, passed away January 4, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Sophie P. Lekas, nee Maimonis; loving father of Angelo (Mary) and Peter (Michele); cherished Pappou of Alexandra (Justin) Lundsteen; devoted son of the late Angelo and Helen, nee Limperis; dearest brother of Stella (the late John) Pintas; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
Retired Chicago Public School teacher. Active member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church where he served as President of the Parish Council in 1974 and was the first Athletic Director.
Visitation Sunday, January 9th, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Colonial Wojciechowski Funeral Home, 6250 N. Milwaukee Ave., Chicago. Friends and family will meet Monday, January 10th at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago for visitation from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10:00 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery.
