Donald Fraser III Obituary

Donald Stewart Fraser, III passed away suddenly on Friday, March 6, 2020.  Don resided in Chicago, IL.  Don was born in Teaneck, NJ on October 11, 1964 to Donald S. Fraser, Jr and Marilyn Hess Fraser. 

Don was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn Fraser and his sister, Laurie Polaski.  Surviving are his father, Donald Fraser in Holly Ridge, NC and sisters, Karen Nixon and her husband, Randy Nixon in Ashburn, VA, Linda Martin and her husband Dante Martin in Sneads Ferry, NC.  Also surviving are 8 nieces and nephews, Kathryn Polaski, Michael Polaski, Andrew Nixon, Ryan Nixon, Meghan Nixon, Harrison Martin, Jacob Martin and Marilyn Martin. 

Don graduated with a B.S. in Hotel & Restaurant Management from Purdue University and was in the hospitality industry for over 30 years.  Don moved from New York, NY to Chicago, IL last summer to begin a new position as Senior VP of Operations with First Hospitality.  Prior to this position, Don served as the Managing Director of the Park Central and WestHouse Hotel for Highgate Hotels. Before that endeavor, he worked at Interstate Hotels as the Corporate Director of Operations and at Denihan Hospitality Group as a General Manager. Don began his career with Hyatt Hotels as a Corporate Management Trainee and moved up into various other management roles over several years.

Don was always there to lend a hand, whether it was helping his father after his mother’s sudden death, his sister battle cancer or his friends through various life struggles.  Don will always be remembered for his smile and infectious laughter.  Don enjoyed traveling, swimming, circuit training fitness, and spending time with family and friends.  Don was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend to all.
