On Saturday, November 26, 2022, Chris Herosy (nee Janie Christene Cameron) of Palos Heights, IL, loving mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away at the age of 91, after a short battle with cancer.
Chris was born on March 18, 1931, to Allan and Bessie Cameron of Caledonia, PEI, Canada. She trained as a registered nurse in Charlottetown, PEI, and worked as a nurse in various capacities across Canada and the US until her retirement. In 1968, she married Frank Herosy and they lived in Massachusetts until his death in 1975. She continued to reside in Milford, MA until 2004 when she moved to Palos Heights. No matter where she found herself, she was always involved with her church, her community, and her friends. Chris was an active member of the Palos United Methodist Church, Palos Heights Seniors, and Oak Hills, among other groups. Some of the things she loved include traveling, learning new things, and connecting with others.
Chris is survived by her children Peter (Jane) Silverstein, Pamela Herosy (Gene Nielsen), and Melissa (Gurp) Ahluwalia and her grandchildren Julia, Kathleen, Walker, and Zoe. She is also survived by her sisters and brother-in-law Heather Ann Downey and Bonnie (Mickey) MacInnis; her uncle Preston MacDonald; nieces Caroline, Crystal, Christy, Sally, Christine, Beth and Ann; nephews Matthew, Rich, and Joe; many cousins, and countless friends who were like family to her.
A celebration of her life will be planned in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in her memory to Palos United Methodist Church, NAMI, or any charity of your choice.
