Olga Shiflett, nee Pradun, age 82, of Hillside, passed away August 16, 2024 surrounded by her loving family.
Beloved wife of the late Roy Philip; loving mother of the late Roy Philip Shiflett Jr., Debra Shiflett-Picardi (Paul Picardi), Steven (Jennifer) Shiflett, Philana (Chester) Nowak, Sandra Shiflett and honorary daughter, Asa Nelson; cherished grandmother of Larissa Vetter, Andrea Shiflett, Lidia (Chris) Lentz, Amber (Jamie) Jackson, Nicolette Shiflett, Jacob Shiflett, Jeffrey Frobel, Timothy Frobel, Philip Nowak, Alex Nelson-Shiflett, Andrew Nowak and Grace Nowak; adored great grandmother of Lylia Brown, Odin Vetter, Kory Brown, Athena Lentz and Baby Jackson coming in November; devoted daughter of the late Gregory and Lidia Pradun; dearest sister of Alexandra (the late Michael) Lukas, the late Maria (the late John) Lukas, the late Nikolaus Pradun, the late Tatiana (the late Nick) Zuk, the late Luba (Robert) Johnson, the late Gregory Jr. (the late Lynn) Pradun and the late baby Sergei; treasured aunt, great aunt and great-great aunt of many nieces and nephews; adored best friend of the late Antoinette Hannum and the late Mirta Fisher.
Born on March 13, 1942, in Poland, Olga was a woman of remarkable strength. For her first job, Olga's role and commitment were to her children, whom she raised with unwavering love and dedication. Her family meant everything to her, and she always prioritized their well-being above all else. She took great pride in her job as a room service manager at the former Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles, where she found fulfillment and joy in serving others.
In her leisure time, Olga was an avid bowler and bingo player, finding laughter and camaraderie in those activities. Despite her claims of not being a fan, she had a soft spot for dogs, particularly her beloved Barney. Olga's creative spirit shone through in her talent for arts and crafts, which she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren.
Known for her exceptional culinary skills, Olga was a fantastic cook who delighted in preparing meals for her family, ensuring they were always well-fed and cared for. She fiercely advocated for her children and grandchildren, standing by them through thick and thin and reflecting her unshakeable support and encouragement.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 20th, 9:30 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Chapel (located inside of Elmwood Cemetery), 2905 N. Thatcher, River Grove. Interment to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and the community she touched with her warmth and kindness. May she rest in eternal peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family to assist with expenses.
