Nancy C. Murphy passed away on July 23, 2025, surrounded by love and leaving behind a life full of heart, humor, and unforgettable memories. A devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Nancy brought warmth, laughter, and a little mischief wherever she went.
She had a deep love for animals, especially cats, and made it her mission to rescue and care for them. Her two spoiled cats, Jimmy and Spencer, were constant companions and a big part of her daily joy.
Nancy was known for her fierce compassion, quick wit, and no-nonsense attitude. She was a one-of-a-kind mom to Michelle and Julie—always up for a haunted house, scary movie, or a spontaneous adventure. She showed her family how to live with courage, humor, and heart.
Music was another constant for Nancy—blasting Queen in the car or getting lost in the voices of Bocelli, Aznavour, Brel and Piaf. She loved the quirky, the spooky, and anything that made people laugh—especially quoting Young Frankenstein or The In-Laws with perfect timing
The light of her life was her granddaughter, Simone, who brought her endless joy, pride, and love. Their bond was something truly special.
In addition to her daughters, Michelle and Julie, Nancy’s spirit lives on in her brother James, sister-in-law Arlene, her Daughter in-law, Debbie (Debbers) her nieces and nephews Laura and Bob, Sue and Kevin and Mike, great-nieces and nephew, and the many friends who became family. She is reunited with her parents, James and Coletta Brown; her husband, Edward Murphy; and her sister-in-law, Marianne Brown.
A Celebration of Life is tentatively being planned for Saturday, Sept. 27th at Twin Lakes in Palatine, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. More details to follow.
