Michael G. Platek

Michael G. Platek, age 64, longtime resident of Crystal Lake, passed away December 13, 2023.  Beloved husband of Susan J., nee Schaller; loving father of Jason Platek (Ellie McCarrier) and Keli Platek (Sean McDougall); cherished grandfather of Ella Rae and Reed McDougall; devoted son of George and the late Jacqueline, nee Korinko; dearest brother of Debra (Bob) Burgess; fond uncle of the Schaller girls.

Mike was a graduate of Crystal Lake Central High School and went on to become a Glazier and member of the Glazier’s Union Local 27.  He worked at LeWalt Glass for many years before retiring and then taking a post at Sherwin Williams.  If he wasn’t fishing, Mike could be found enjoying life at Labemi’s or Moe-B-Dicks North Shore Pub.  Mike was loved deeply by his family and friends, was an avid fisherman in his prime and a huge fan of the Cubs and Bears. His passion for music and dancing was highly contagious. He will be greatly missed.

A Celebration of Life Event will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Old Town Hall, 54 Brink St., Crystal Lake.
