Marion P. Kieras, nee Lopac, 98, longtime resident of Berwyn, passed away June 9, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Steve W. Kieras; loving mother of Karen (Michael) Tiburtini, Stephen (Adele) Kieras, Richard Kieras and Sandra Kieras (Ken Ramage); cherished nana of Julie, Stephanie (Joe), Kevin (Ashley), Kristin (Dave), Michael (Samantha), Marissa, Eric (Megan), Kaitlin (Jesse), Ryan and Tyler; proud great nana of Mackenzie, Chase, Maya, Maura, Abby, Gwen, Mason, Ellis and Landon; dearest sister of Rose (the late Ken) Meier, Florence (Steve) Strand, Carole (Richard) Pietras and the late Eleanor (the late John) Maycan; fond aunt of Janice, Joyce, Joan, Jim, Nancy, Patti, Kathy, Susan, Cheryl, Larry, Scott, Rich, Julie, Larry, Linda, Judy, Ken, George, Roberta, Mary and the late Gregory and Kathy and great aunt of many.
Marion Patricia Lopac Kieras was born on May 7, 1925, nine and a half months after Joe and Dorothy Lopac were married. She was the first born of the Lopac Family. Four sisters and a brother (Joe, who died as an infant) followed. Marion married her neighbor, Steve Kieras, in 1949. In keeping with the close-knit family tradition, Marion spent all (not some, ALL) of her life caring for others. She raised 4 children and enjoyed her 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She worked as an executive secretary to the President of SNPJ and as a volunteer to many food kitchens, church charities and neighbors in need. She was an active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 32.
Marion's greatest joy after she retired was spending virtually every weekend (and days in between) with her husband Steve, her sisters Eleanor and Flo and her brother-in laws Johnny and Steve. If she wasn't out with them listening to live music, she constantly had music playing around the house. Marion was also known to be an excellent dancer. She and Steve also loved going to Vegas, seeing the shows and playing the slots.
Like all of the Lopac sisters, she learned to bake from Mama. She made great apple strudel, but her specialty was kolaczkis. Her children can attest that although she cooked every meal for them while they were growing up, no one can ever recall her actually sitting down to eat. Later on when she would go out to a restaurant, she was famous for looking at others' plates and saying "I should have ordered that.'' Marion, Mom, Nana, Great Nana was the Matriarch of the Lopac Family.
