Marilyn Dean Sherman, nee Burbank, 88, of Chicago, passed away September 28, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Sam Sherman; the loving mother of Melissa "Missy" (Michael) Alesia and the late Candace Hahn; the cherished grandmother of Douglas (Elisa Paik) Hahn, Samantha (Jeremiah) Barr, Matthew Hahn, Anthony (Yasmin) Alesia, Lindsay Alesia, and Joseph (Sylvia) Alesia; and the dearest great grandmother of Liam and Talia Alesia. Marilyn was a diehard Cubs fan, a proud lifelong democrat, and a longtime member of Friendship Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed cooking and had a sweet tooth that was best satisfied with Jujubes. Marilyn also loved dogs and spent many hours knitting beautiful creations, including blankets that she donated for premature babies. One of her greatest passions was volunteer work. In addition to sewing for the American Cancer Society, Marilyn was a devoted volunteer for The Harbour, a non profit organization that provides emergency shelter and transitional living for the homeless, runaways, neglected women, and youth. A celebration of Marilyn's life will be held from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 2nd, at Edelweiss Restaurant, 7650 W. Irving Park Rd., Norridge. Interment is private at Memorial Park Cemetery in Skokie. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Marilyn's memory to The Harbour at 1440 Renaissance Dr., Ste. 240, Park Ridge, IL 60068 (theharbour.org).
