In profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Margaret "Marge" Anselmo, nee Anello, a radiant soul whose presence was as warm and inviting as the dishes she lovingly crafted. Born on October 14, 1947, in Bari, Italy, Marge's journey across the ocean began at the tender age of ten when she and her family emigrated to the United States in 1957, seeking a new life filled with opportunities and dreams.

Growing up in the vibrant city of Chicago, she encountered her beloved husband, Tony, at Kuppenheimer Clothing Manufacturer, where they both worked. She as a switchboard operator and he as a presser and quality control inspector. Their paths intertwined seamlessly, leading to a union that would flourish into a family brimming with love and devotion. Together, they embraced the joys of parenthood and eventually sought a fresh start in the sun-drenched landscapes of California in 1978, where they laid down roots for their cherished family.

Marge's professional life was adorned with remarkable accomplishments that underscored her deep-seated passion for cooking. As an outstanding culinary artist, she garnered numerous accolades in cooking competitions, earning well-deserved recognition for her exceptional skills. Her journey led her to work at the deli counter of Ralph's Grocery Store, where she not only delighted her customers but also made noteworthy enhancements in the presentation of the food, transforming ordinary moments into extraordinary culinary experiences. Additionally, her cooking talents drew the attention of the Chairman of the Board for the grocery store chain who designated her to be the caterer for all of their board meetings. Prior to her tenure at the deli, she displayed her entrepreneurial spirit as a partner in a pizzeria, showcasing her unwavering commitment to bringing joy through food.

Beyond her culinary exploits, Marge was a person of great warmth, embodying generosity and selflessness at every turn. Her family was the very essence of her being, and her home was a sanctuary for gatherings and celebrations. As an exceptional hostess, she had an innate ability to create beautiful ambiances, crafting memories during holidays and special occasions that would be cherished by all. Her creativity knew no boundaries; she was a beacon of inspiration, always ready to help others transform their ideas into reality.

Marge's love for cooking extended beyond the kitchen, as she embraced the beauty of exploring the country with her family in their motorhome. The California coast was a particular favorite, where she would blend the thrill of travel with her beloved pastime of crafting delectable meals from the fish caught by her husband and the delightful company of traveling guests.

Her indelible mark on the world will continue to resonate through her greatest achievement: a cherished cookbook imbued with family history and treasured recipes that will forever nourish the hearts of her loved ones.

Marge had an amazing memory and took great delight in the recollection and retelling of the details of one story after another. She had a great sense of humor and the ability to sum up a person or situation in the most concise, accurate, and honest way; maybe too honest, but almost always memorable. Marge was a strong, funny, caring woman who was passionate about her family and deeply loved by all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed and never forgotten.

Marge leaves behind her beloved husband, Tony; their loving children, Peter (Kristin) Anselmo and Lynnette Anselmo Hungerford; her cherished grandchildren, Lacey Fife, Lauren (Joseph) King, Trinity and Jared Hungerford and Isabella and Anthony Anselmo; and adoring great granddaughter, Jordan King. She is also survived by her siblings, Nancy, Frank (Barbara), Dominic (Antoinette), Joe (Charlotte), and Carmella Anello; many treasured nieces and nephews; and dear friends.

Though she is preceded in death by her parents, Philip and Angela Anello, the legacy of Margaret Anselmo will live on in the countless lives she touched with her kindness, creativity, and culinary gifts. As we celebrate her life, we hold dear the memories shared and the love that will forever bind us together.
