Jeffrey M. Schneider

With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life lived with boundless love and generosity, we mark the passing of Jeffrey Michael Schneider, affectionately known as "Jeff", on July 18, 2026, at his home in Burbank, Illinois. Born on June 2, 1962, Jeff’s journey through life was one characterized by resilience, warmth, and a steadfast devotion to those he cherished.

A proud graduate of Lyons Township High School, Jeff began building the foundation of a life defined by hard work and compassion. His industrious spirit led him to a career spanning over 25 years in the trucking industry, where he served as a dockman and spotter. In this role, his peers knew him not only for his unwavering dedication but also for a sense of humor that could brighten even the most demanding of days. Jeff’s extraordinary work ethic was matched only by his willingness to extend a helping hand to anyone in need, embodying the qualities of loyalty, kindness, and steadfast support to friends, family and colleagues alike.

Jeff grew up in an orphanage and in foster care until his father was able to provide, at which time he was reunited with his family. This was a formative experience that shaped him into a man of extraordinary heart and empathy. Against all odds, he worked tirelessly to forge a successful path, and it was this indomitable spirit that set the tone for every chapter of his life. Among his most cherished accomplishments, Jeff counted his beloved family at the very top. He was immeasurably proud of his home, a symbol of the stability and love he fought so valiantly to offer his own family.

That home became a sanctuary filled with laughter, music, and the aroma of delightful meals—especially when “Chef Jeff” fired up the grill or commanded the kitchen, pepper shaker firmly in hand. Few could forget his signature move: removing the lid to liberally season his food, ensuring every bite reached his own culinary ideal. Meals shared at his table were always seasoned with laughter and stories, for Jeff’s humor was infectious and his spirit generous.

In quieter moments, Jeff found immense pleasure in simple, enduring joys such as a freshly mowed lawn. He was at his happiest surrounded by nature, fishing and boating, a tranquil escape that he savored deeply. Music also played a central role in Jeff’s life, with the Beatles providing a soundtrack to countless family memories.

His devotion to faith was unwavering. As a devout Christian and longtime member of Greater Life Christian Center in Justice, Jeff found guidance and fellowship that enriched his days and deepened his compassion for others. His kindness and generosity knew no bounds. If a moment called for levity, one could count on Jeff’s wit and ever-present sense of fun.

Those closest to Jeff affectionately remember his endearing habit of “cheechabee”—his name for the loving kisses he bestowed upon eyes, a gesture both playful and deeply intimate, symbolic of his perpetual tenderness. He also adored all of Chicago’s sports teams, proudly rooting for them as only a true hometown fan could.

To his loving wife Debbie of 37 years, Jeff was a partner of unshakeable devotion and tenderness. Their bond was a source of profound joy, and his love and admiration for her radiated in everything he did. He was a loving and cherished father, and is deeply mourned by his children, Pete (Carol), Courtney, and Marcus (Megan). Jeff also leaves behind his siblings, John (Doreen) and Joe Schneider and Brenda Sparks; his siblings-in-law, Fred Jr. (Carla) Klinger, Caryl (Dave) Simandl and Tashy Klinger; a granddaughter, Shayna Draniczarek; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Jeff now joins those who preceded him in rest: his beloved grandmother, Mary DePaola; his parents, Jack (Penny) Schneider and Bonnie McPherson; his parents-in-law, Frederick Klinger Sr. and Patricia (the late Bob) Wokeck; his brother-in-law, Donny Klinger; and sister-in-law Linda (the late Jon) Jaroszewski. Their memories are woven into the story of Jeff’s life.

Family and friends are invited to honor Jeff’s memory at Chapel Hill Gardens South Funeral Home, 11333 South Central Avenue, Oak Lawn, for a Visitation on Sunday, July 26, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until a Celebration of Life, which will begin at 4:00 p.m.

In remembering Jeff, we celebrate a life that was, above all, a triumph of love—hard-won, freely given, and forever enduring. May his memory inspire laughter, love, and selfless devotion in us all.
