It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Debbie.

Debra Lee Cook, age 61, passed away on October 25, 2023. She leaves behind an incredible legacy of love, wisdom, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends and the countless lives she touched.

Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Debbie graduated from Lake Park High School in Roselle, Illinois. She later moved to Dallas, Texas where she met the love of her life Robbie Cook. They were married, started their family and moved to Sugar Hill, Georgia where they raised their son, Canyon.

Debbie was a dedicated wife, amazing mother, loyal sister and devoted friend. Her family was the most important thing to her. She adored her grandbabies and was an incredible force in their lives. She will always be remembered as their “Munny”.

She had a way of making everybody feel special. There are endless memories of laughter and love with all of those in her life. Dancing, giggle fits and that beautiful dimpled smile will never be forgotten. Debbie was the big sister, mentor and rock for so many of us. Her infectious laugh will live on eternally in our hearts.

Debbie was a hardworking, dedicated and reliable employee throughout her career in Human Resources. A one-of-a-kind strong woman in the corporate world. She was working as an Executive Business Analyst at Standard Office Systems of Atlanta.

Debbie is survived by her husband, Robert Cook, and her son, Canyon (Ashley) Cook of Athens, Georgia. She was a loving grandmother - “Munny” to Stetson, Emerson "Emmy" and Anderson "Andi". Debbie is also survived by her sisters, Kimberly (James) Stecker of Elgin, Illinois; Christine (John) Grendzinski of Batavia, Illinois; Cynthia (Jeff) Lanas of Grayslake, Illinois;  and Lisa (John) Szlenk of Hampshire, Illinois. She also leaves behind 14 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews who loved her dearly as well as many loving cousins and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Darlene Johnson of Roselle, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 2, 2023 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Flanigan Funeral Home, 4400 S. Lee St., Buford, GA, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. with Dr. Lamar Holley officiating.  Interment will follow at the Sugar Hill Cemetery, Sugar Hill, GA.
