David Earl Larson, a beloved member of the community known for his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for events and promotions, passed away tragically in an accident on June 14, 2024. Born on October 12, 1955, in Oak Park, IL, Dave touched the lives of many with his warmth, generosity, and charismatic personality.
Having earned a High School Diploma, Dave went on to establish himself as a successful self-employed individual in the Go Kart Racing industry that he loved. Dave carried on the legacy of his father Earl, who founded and established Gem Products in the racing community and Dave's sons, Dave and Nash continue to carry on this family legacy. Dave's creativity and dedication shone through in all his endeavors, leaving a lasting impact on those around him.
Dave is survived by his loving sons, David Larson (Megan Burba) and Nash Larson (Taylor Anderson); his cherished grandson, Cameron Larson; his dear sister, Kathryn Larson; his beloved fiancé, Carleen "Charlie" Johnson and her children, Steven (Whitney), Rachel and Michael Sternberg and Ashley Johnson and grandchildren, Raul and Raelyn Rivera; and his devoted former wife, Lisa Larson. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Virginia Larson. His memory will forever be treasured by all who knew him.
In celebration of Dave's life, there will be two events. The first will take place primarily for the racing community and will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 5 p.m. following the races at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, IL. A second event for all family, friends and acquaintances will be announced to take place at a future date, where all those in attendance will be invited to join in honoring his legacy and sharing memories of the wonderful person he was.
Though he may have departed from this world, the spirit of Dave Larson will continue to brighten the lives of those he touched. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and admiration of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
