Carol C. Szlenk

Carol C. Szlenk, née Cascio, passed away on October 27, 2026, at the age of 79. Beloved wife of John Szlenk Sr.; loving mother of John Jr. (Lisa) and Peter Szlenk; cherished grandmother of Caitlin (Fatai) Obasuyi, and Kyle (Amanda), Jake, and Krista Szlenk; adored grandmother of Cleo Obasuyi; devoted daughter of the late Vincent and the late Sophie Cascio; dearest sister of John (Arlene) Cascio, Michele (the late Jeff) Romanelli, and the late Francine (the late Peter) D’Antonio.

Carol will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She took great pride in being a patient, kind, amazing, and sweet wife to her husband, John, and an awesome mother and mother-in-law. Her family was the center of her life, and she was happiest when caring for the people she loved.

Carol would do anything for her family and friends, and she always welcomed everyone, family or not, into her home with kindness and generosity. She treasured her role as grandmother and spoiling her grandchildren was her favorite job. She loved shopping, making crafts, needlepoint, and sewing. She especially enjoyed going to lunch and shopping at TJ Maxx with her sisters and friends and had a fondness for diet fountain cola and slot machines. She loved watching football and cooking large meals for all friends to gather. Her love for the holidays and decorating is a great memory that will stay with us all- especially at Christmas time.  Carol loved her dogs as though they were her children, and that same warmth and affection touched every part of her life.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Countryside Funeral Home, 333 S. Roselle Rd., Roselle. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the same location.
