Barbara Lynn Prigge, nee Henquinet, 83, longtime resident of Mt. Prospect, passed away May 15, 2026. Beloved wife of the late Raymond O. Prigge for 36 years; loving mother of Glenn (the late Glory) Prigge, Margy Moore, Brian (Mary) Moore and Jennifer Moore; cherished grandmother of Alexandra, Elizabeth and Samantha Prigge and Josh, Joey, Justin and Jessica Moore; dearest aunt, great aunt and treasured friend of many. She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings and their spouses: Doris and George Hermann, Elaine and Joseph Hammersmith, Kathleen and Thomas Whitson, and Joseph Henquinet. She is survived by her sister-in-law Marie Peterson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Walter and Doris Prigge, Shirley and Byron Bartlett, Robert Prigge, and Richard Prigge. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Prigge.
A loving mother, Barbara was the heart of her family. A steady source of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. She had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten even the most ordinary day. Her sarcasm was both greatly appreciated and inherited by her children and grandchildren. Her beautiful smile was one of her greatest gifts, instantly making others feel welcome and at ease.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A devoted reader, she could often be found lost in a good book. In addition, she was a fierce Scrabble, Mexican Train, Cribbage and SkipBo player. She enjoyed playing (and usually beating) anyone daring enough to play with her.
Her creativity shone through with her love of crafts and sewing, and she shared her angel ornaments, her adorable bears, table runners and Santa Clauses with many. She was an excellent seamstress, making clothes for not only her children, but also Baby Tender Love and Barbie Dolls. She also had a green thumb, nourishing violets that would flourish under her loving hands. She was very proud of her colorful flower beds in the backyard and enjoyed adorning them with yard art treasures she and her daughters had found.
She had a special love for Door County, a place that brought her peace and happiness, and time with family and friends at “Prigge’s Pine Haven” in Egg Harbor. It was her and Ray’s home away from home for over 25 years. Her children are greatly comforted by the fact that she rejoined Ray on May 15th, and they were able to celebrate their 43rd wedding anniversary together.
Above all, she will be remembered for the love she gave so freely, the laughter she shared, and the comfort of knowing she was always there. Her legacy lives on in the memories we hold, the lessons she taught, and the love she planted in all of us. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
