Amelia Nuñez, nee De La Rosa age 92, of Crown Point, IN, former longtime resident of Steger, IL, passed away May 2, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Ramon; loving mother of Linda (Jamie) Quintanilla, Diane (Richard) Lale, Ramon (Judi) Nuñez, Jr. and Juan Nuñez; cherished grandmother of Melissa (Robin) Polletta, Michael McCormick, Brandon Nuñez, Lucas (Maggie) Nuñez and Jacob Quintanilla; proud great grandmother of Indian, Scout and Tatiana Polletta.
She is also survived by sisters-in-law: Delores De La Rosa, Ramona De La Rosa, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Preceded in death by her parents: Jesus and Macrina De La Rosa; siblings: Carmen (Raymond) Gayton, Ralph De La Rosa, Mary (Juan) Garza, Josephine Escobedo, and Raymond De La Rosa.
Amelia’s quiet confidence, demeanor, and unwavering Catholic faith guided her life and approach to motherhood.
As a mother of four, grandmother of five, and great grandmother of three, Amelia instilled her strong values and religious beliefs in her family.
She led by example, and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 11th, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Liborius Catholic Church, 71 W. 35th St., Steger. Family and friends will meet at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL on Thursday, June 12th at 12:00 noon for Committal Prayers at 12:30 p.m.
