Agnes "Aggie" Mary Moore, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend to all who had the honor of knowing her, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Barrington, Illinois. She graced the world with her radiant presence since her birth on January 3, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois. At 91 years old, Agnes left behind a legacy woven from the fabric of love, kindness, and unwavering strength, impacting countless lives throughout her journey.
Agnes was known to embody an exquisite blend of qualities that endeared her to many; her kindness was matched only by her sass, while her caring disposition radiated warmth. Many who crossed her path felt as if they had found in her a second mother, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Throughout her life, she exhibited resilience and dedication, particularly in her proudest accomplishment: raising five children, ages ranging from 5 to 15, all on her own following the tragic loss of her husband, Donald A. Moore Jr., who was killed in the line of firefighting duty. Her unwavering commitment and sacrifice shaped not only the lives of her children but also those of her grandchildren.
The memory of Agnes is forever entwined with countless beautiful moments; indeed, her family's entire life with her stands as their collective favorite memory. An eternal blessing in their lives, Agnes is remembered not just for her nurturing heart, but also for the laughter and joy she brought into every space she occupied.
Agnes leaves behind a cherished legacy within her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald A. Moore Jr. and the late Bob Mels; loving mother of Thomas (Cindi) Moore, Mary (the late Charles) Morrison, Michael (Karen), Patrick and the late Robert “Bobby” and Daniel Moore; cherished grandmother of Sarah (Aaron), Matthew (Jackie), and Rylie; devoted daughter of the late Francesco and Rose Cardella; dearest sister of the late Salvador “Sam” (the late Kaye) Cardella, Laura (the late Joseph) Ferina, and Vince (the late Josie) Cardella; treasured aunt of many nieces and nephews; and adored friend of many.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16th, 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Chapel prayers on Saturday, January 17th, 9:45 a.m. from the funeral home to Immaculate Conception Church, 7211 W. Talcott, Chicago, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. The Mass will be live streamed, please check back for the link. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove.
