William “Bill” A. Avallone, 80, of Bartlett and former 27-year resident of Addison, passed away December 26, 2018. Beloved husband of Diana Lee, nee Muscia for 40 years; loving stepfather of Christopher (Teresa) Hull, Tina Buehler, nee Hull and Jack (Michaela) Hull; proud grandfather of Justin and Nathan Hull, Marissa and Matthew Buehler, Zachary, Ryan and Madeline Bride and Meredith Hull; dearest brother of Allen (Patricia) Avallone.
Bill was a graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Chicago and attended DePaul University. He worked as a sales representative for many years, primarily in photographic equipment until he became a security guard at the DuPage County Courthouse. Eventually, Bill transitioned to the Sheriff’s Department where he found his true calling, and later became a Sheriff’s Deputy in DuPage County before retiring in 2011. After he became a part of the Sheriff’s Department, Bill took an interest in guns and enjoyed time at the shooting range. He was always very conscientious with gun safety.
Always armed with a camera, Bill had a talented eye for photography. His legacy of photos will always be treasured.
As a devoted Catholic, Bill’s faith was of extremely high importance to him. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and served as an usher at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Addison for more than 20 years.
Bill loved to golf, even making golf clubs for his family, and golfed with the Byrnes Raiders in Addison for many years. He also enjoyed bowling, but an ankle issue prevented him from continuing this activity.
Bill was a true patriot, but his greatest passion was his family. His children, and especially his grandchildren, were his life. He never missed any of their activities or events. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and will be profoundly missed.
