Robert Michael Prehn

Robert Michael Prehn, 64, of Westmont, passed away suddenly June 24, 2018.  Beloved wife of Julia “Julie” D., nee Gregory; loving father of Nicholas and Nathan; devoted son of John “Jack” Christian and the late Patricia Ann, nee Kennedy and son in law of Janet and the late Tom Gregory; dearest brother of Katherine (Randal) Verhulst, Laura (Craig) O’Brien, Michael Prehn, Margaret “Peggy” (Brian) Washko and the late John C. Jr. (Gayle) and Steven (Ann) Prehn and brother in law of Kathy (Steve) Bergmann and Michael Gregory; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.  Bob was a graduate of Romeoville High School and proudly served in the US Marines before attending Joliet Junior College.  He was an excellent cook and a total foodie.  Bob was a devoted family man and took deep pride in his sons.  His incredible patience and warm spirit were the perfect ingredients for his caretaking of others, love of animals and constant support for the underdog.  He also loved to travel with his dream destinations being anywhere with sandy beaches, warm weather and the ocean.  As Bob approached semi-retirement, he found  great joy in working for the Westmont Park District, especially time spent at Ty Warner Park.  A Memorial Visitation will be held Sunday, July 1st from 5:00 PM until time of Memorial Service at 7:00 PM at the Westmont Park District, 55 East Richmond St., Linden Room, Westmont.  Military Honors and a Committal Service will be held privately at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Bob's Go Fund Me page are appreciated, https://www.gofundme.com/memorial-fund-for-robert-m-prehn.
