Francis Leopold "Lee" Jurewicz

Francis Leopold “Lee” Jurewicz, 75, passed away January 2, 2019.  Loving husband of Connie Jo for 17 years and former husband of Therese Burdey; adored father of Christopher, Jacqueline (Colin Jorgenson), Kimberly and Danielle and stepfather of Bobby Frett; devoted son of the late Edward and Alfreda, nee Buczkowski; respected brother of precious twin Alfreda (the late Dewayne) Bell, Barbara (the late Joe) Schwellinger, Fred (Maetta), Michael (Michelle), Jim, Ron (Shelly) and the late Edward “Skip” Jr. (the late Dodee), Anthony (the late Jo) and Jack (Karen); fond uncle and cousin of many.

Francis was born in Buffalo, NY in 1943 and graduated from Beloit Catholic High School in Beloit, WI after which he enlisted in the US Army.  Francis worked in the insurance business for over 55 years where he met many thousands of wonderful clients with whom he enjoyed working.  Francis was a lifelong Green Bay Packer fan, much to the chagrin of his many Chicago area friends and enjoyed playing cards with his fellow teetotalers.  Traveling was one of Francis’ greatest passions.  He travelled to many parts of the world and even had the supreme honor of having his Pope St. John Paul II medal blessed in person by his Holiness.  As a devout Catholic, Francis’ faith was of extremely high importance to him and the encounter with the pope was one of the highlights of his life. 

A Memorial Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15th, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass  at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 451 W. Terra Cotta Ave. (at Oak St.) in Crystal Lake.  Interment private.  In lieu of flowers, Francis requested memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
