Outer Burial Container / Burial Vaults

A burial vault is a receptacle that houses the casket.  It is designed to maintain the integrity of the grave and to protect the casket from the weight of the earth and heavy cemetery maintenance equipment.   Maintaining the integrity of the grave prevents the ground from settling or sinking, thereby preserving the beauty of the cemetery.  Most cemeteries in the Chicagoland area require a burial vault or outer burial container for earthen interment.
